The Milford Exploring Law Enforcement Post 29 Ride-Along program was certified
by the National Law Enforcement Exploring Committee Task Force.
Since the inception of Law Enforcement
Exploring, Explorers in many posts have participated in
ride-along programs with their participating organizations.
In 1979, the National Law Enforcement Committee approached
the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP)
about sponsoring a program whereby law enforcement agencies
that have Exploring Posts could certify their Explorers
who qualified to participate in that agency's ride-along
program.
The certification came after an Application
packet was submitted by Officer John Tiernan who worked
for the last few months putting the information together.
Explorers participating in the program receive eight hours
training on the ride-along procedures. The Milford Post
is the only Exploring Agency in the region receiving the
certification.
The project is coordinated by advisors
Milford Police Officers John Tiernan, Carlos A. Sousa,
and Massachusetts State Trooper Christine Fisher who is
currently assigned to the Grafton Barracks. There are ten
available seats for this year, anyone interested in more
information about the Milford Post may contact Officer
Tiernan at (508) 473-1113 x 525.
