MILFORD POLICE DEPARTMENT ASSIGNS TWO OFFICERS TO SPECIAL OPERATIONS TEAM

The Milford Police Department congratulates Officer Michael Johnson and Officer Bayley Laughlin on their new assignments to the MPD Special Operations Team.

Officer Johnson has served as a patrol officer with the Milford Police Department for three years. Prior to joining MPD, he spent nearly a decade on active duty in the United States Army, where he completed combat tours during Operation Enduring Freedom and trained multi-national forces overseas. He is a certified SWAT Operator, licensed Emergency Medical Technician, licensed Commercial Drone Operator, FBI Crisis Negotiator Course graduate, Tactical Medical Instructor, Active Shooter Instructor, and CPR/First Aid Instructor.

Officer Laughlin began his law enforcement career in Willimantic, Connecticut, where he served as a police officer and member of the Warrant Task Force. During his service there, he received multiple commendations, including the Life Saving Award and a Departmental Citation.

Since transferring to the Milford Police Department in 2023, Officer Laughlin has completed several advanced trainings, including ballistic shield instruction and close-quarters combat courses.

The Milford Police Special Operations Team is a highly trained unit prepared for immediate crisis deployment. In today’s evolving public-safety landscape, the Special Operations Team was established to respond rapidly to active shooter situations, school lockdowns, and other life-threatening incidents. Working closely with Patrol, K-9, and the Detective Bureau, the unit is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and the most up-to-date tactical training.
