NOW HIRING A FULL-TIME DISPATCHER

The Milford Police Department is currently seeking highly motivated, qualified candidates to join our team as a full-time Public Safety Telecommunicator.

Reporting directly to the Communications Supervisor, the selected candidate will become part of a professional, team-oriented Communications Center dedicated to providing exceptional emergency communications and public safety services to the Milford community. The successful candidate will be responsible for answering emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatching police, fire, and EMS personnel, operating advanced public safety communications systems, and providing critical support during emergency incidents.

Candidates who possess NexGen 911, Total Response EMD, and APCO PST1 Public Safety Telecommunicator certifications are encouraged to apply. Applicants who do not currently hold these certifications will be required to attend department-paid training to obtain them. Additional in-house and off-site training opportunities are also provided throughout employment.

Preferred Qualifications • Ability to remain calm and perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment. • Strong work ethic and commitment to public service. • Excellent multitasking and communication skills. • High school diploma or equivalent. • Typing proficiency of at least 30 words per minute. • Knowledge of the geography of the Town of Milford is preferred. • Previous public safety communications or related experience is desirable. • Availability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
