MILFORD — Friday November 14th at 5:55pm, The Milford Public Safety Communications Center received multiple 911 calls reporting a fight, in which one male was assaulting another with a bat near Main Street Market, located at 315 Main Street in Milford.
On arrival, responding officers located a male party with bleeding wounds to his head and face. Meanwhile, the suspect had fled the area in a Black GMC Sierra pick-up truck.
At 6:00PM, Members of the Hopedale Police Department enacted a motor vehicle stop of the suspect vehicle on Mendon St. in their town. Hopedale indicated the operator of the GMC Sierra had blood on his sweatshirt.
A review of on-scene CCTV footage showed the suspect, later identified as Andre Oliveira Gomes, 24, of Whitinsville, MA attempt to run the victim over with his GMC Sierra pick-up truck, before exiting the vehicle and assaulting him with a baseball bat.
At 6:20PM, Oliveira Gomes was arrested and transported to the Milford Police Department for booking. While the victim was transported to UMASS Memorial Hospital in Worcester to be treated for injuries sustained in the malicious assault.
“Violent acts of this nature have no place in our community,” said Chief of Police Robert Tusino. “Thanks to the swift cooperation between Milford and Hopedale officers, a dangerous individual was apprehended before he could harm anyone else.”
Andre Oliveira Gomes has been charged with the following crimes and is currently being held at Worcester House of Corrections on $100,000 bail:
