In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15 falls, as National Police Week. National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.
In 2026, May 10th to May 16th is National Police Week. This week is dedicated to honor the men and women of the law enforcement community and those who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
This week is especially poignant for the Milford Police Department, as it serves as a time of remembrance for Officer Harry Butler and Sergeant Walter “Moose” Conley, who tragically lost their lives in the line of duty serving the Milford Community.
