MILFORD POLICE LOCATE MISSING CHILD FOLLOWING SWIFT RESPONSE

MILFORD – On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at approximately 3:35 PM, the Milford Public Safety Communications Center received a 911 call from a woman residing on Sidney Road reporting she was unable to locate her 1-year-old son. Communications personnel promptly dispatched resources while attempting to obtain additional information from the distraught caller.

Officers from the Milford Police Patrol Division arrived on scene within minutes, at 3:38 PM, but were unable to locate the missing boy in the apartment or surrounding area.

Within minutes of the initial officers’ arrival, 14 members of the Milford Police Department—including personnel from the Patrol Division, Detective Bureau, K-9 Unit, and drone operators responded to assist in the search.

At 3:58 PM, the missing child was safely located within the 304-unit apartment complex.

“Our officers train regularly for incidents like this where every second counts.” Commented Milford Chief of Police Robert Tusino. “Time and resources are priceless when it comes to the preservation of a child’s life. I am thankful for the quick actions of our communications staff and the coordinated response of our patrol, detectives, and specialized units; because of this we were able to see a safe conclusion to a potentially disastrous situation.“

MAN ARRESTED AFTER BOTTLE ATTACK

 MILFORD- On Monday, June 30, 2025, at approximately 2:03AM the Milford Police Department Patrol Division responded to 14 Prospect St., Milford Hospital to investigate a report of a male with a large laceration to his hand. 

In interviewing the victim, officers were able to ascertain that he was attacked at an East Main St. residence by a male known to him.

At 4:55AM, overnight patrol officers made their way to the residence in question where they observed a large amount of dry blood scattered around the apartment and a broken glass believed to be weapon that caused the laceration.

As a result of the investigation, officers arrested Claudnei Leonidio Batista, 39, of Milford and charged him with the following:

MILFORD RESIDENT ARRESTED AFTER STABBING ANOTHER MALE WITH A FORK

MILFORD- On Friday June 27, 2025, at approximately 10:17PM, the Milford Public Safety Communications Center received a call from a Spanish speaking male reporting he had been stabbed in the head.  On arrival at the Main St. residence officers discovered a 26-year-old male bleeding from the head.  The victim reported he was stabbed in the head with what he believed was a fork.  The suspect, later identified as Wilson Jhavier Guasco Morocho fled the scene on foot prior to the officer’s arrival.

While the responding officers tended to the victim, additional patrol units located a male party, matching the description given on Congress St. near the Milford Town Park.  Following an on-scene investigation, the suspect was placed under arrest and charged with the following:

TWO JUVENILES CHARGED WITH FRAUD, LARCENY AND B&E

MILFORD- On May 28th, 2025, residents of Temple St. reported multiple attempted B&Es from motor vehicles. Resident video of the area showed two male suspects wearing dark clothing, attempting to gain access into vehicles parked in neighborhood driveways.

On June 6, 2025, Milford Police Detectives became aware of a series of purchases being made with Mastercard stolen from a Temple St. resident’s vehicle. Using the log of the fraudulent transactions, detectives were able to obtain CCTV surveillance footage of the suspects making fraudulent purchases in Dartmouth and Fall River, MA.

On June 11, 2025, Using Flock Safety technology, Milford Police Detectives were able to track the vehicle of a third involved male on the day of the purchases. The vehicle in question was in the area at the time of the fraudulent Fall River transactions.

JUVENILE CHARGED WITH MULTIPLE B&E, THEFT AND FRAUD OFFENSES

MILFORD- On June 2, 2025, The Milford Police Department were dispatched to Benjamin Moore Manufacturing, located at 49 Sumner St. for multiple larcenies from a motor vehicle.  On arrival, officers were alerted by employees that three separate vehicles had been entered and had items stolen.  A video review of the parking lot depicted a slender individual with a black jacket on a bicycle.

On June 3, 2025, the Milford Police Detective Bureau began an investigation into the incident and were alerted to use of credit cards stolen from the vehicles.

Thursday, June 19, 2025, an electronic search warrant was issued that lead to the identification of a 17-year-old male from Milford as the suspect in the larcenies.  Using this information, Milford Police Detectives were able to obtain and execute a search warrant for the suspect’s residence on Friday June 20, 2025.  During the execution of the warrant, Detectives were able to locate evidence that led to the suspect being charged with the following:

SPOTLIGHT ON OUR QUALITY-OF-LIFE INITIATIVE

On March 27, 2025, Chief Robert Tusino created the Quality-of-Life program.  Dedicated to addressing issues that have a negative impact on the quality of life for Milford residents, Sgt. Joseph Francesconi was tasked with leading the initiative to battle the blight that burdens our neighborhoods, specifically in the following areas.

·       Junk/Unregistered Motor Vehicles

·       Abandoned Motor Vehicles

·       Noise Complaints

·       Drinking in Public

·       Illegal Dumping

Complainants can submit an online complaint which goes directly to Sgt. Francesconi. The complaint is logged, tracked and communication is made with the complainant and the subject of the complaint to resolve the issue in a reasonable timeframe.

Since its inception the following complaints have been addressed and resolved:

MPD AND VFAS APPREHEND ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT

Milford – On Tuesday June 10, 2025, the Milford Police Department in collaboration with Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section (VFAS) captured Dontay Heywood, 20, of Woonsocket, RI for an extraditable warrant of first-degree robbery and using a firearm while committing a crime of violence.  Also arrested Izaiah Desjarlais Blauth, 22, of Woonsocket, RI for an unrelated felony warrant.

On the morning of Tuesday June 10, 2025, VFAS informed the Milford Police Detective Bureau that Heywood, a fugitive from justice for armed robbery charges may be hiding in South Main St. area of Milford.

At approximately 2:00PM members of the Milford Police Department Detective Bureau, Special Operations, K-9 Unit and VFAS executed the warrant of arrest on South Main Street and took Dontay Heywood into custody without incident.  A second male at the residence, Izaiah Desjarlais Blauth was apprehended for an active felony warrant.

At 2:49PM a search of the premises was conducted leading to the discovery of a Black HK 6mm BB Gun and 436 rounds of 7.62x51 ammunition.

MASSACHUSETTS PAROLE BOARD GRANTS MILFORD COP KILLER PAROLE

MILFORD- On December 10, 1980, Sgt. Walter “Moose” Conley was murdered in the line of duty while working a detail at Milford Savings Bank.  Sgt. Conley selflessly sacrificed his life to thwart an attempted armed robbery while escorting a bank teller into the bank.  In the line of duty gunfire erupted, leaving the beloved peace officer slain and his killers, Patrick O’Shea and John Currie fleeing to upstate New York where they were subsequently captured and extradited by New York State Police before being sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

On Tuesday, June 3, 2025, our agency was notified that the Massachusetts Parole Board had granted parole to one of Sgt. Conley’s killers, Patrick O’ Shea, under the guise of compassionate release. 

In reacting to the news Milford Deputy Chief of Police John Sanchioni remarked “I remember this tragic event vividly as a high school student, in my 38 years at the Milford Police Department, officers who worked with Sergeant Conley often spoke of his love and dedication in serving the Town of Milford.  It disheartens me that the cold-blooded killer of a police officer can be released without serving the penalty our justice system handed down.”

The Milford Police Department and the Milford Police Association stand steadfast together against this decision.  Milford Police Association President Anthony Bavosi addressed many of the current members of the union today with the disappointing news and later commented, “On behalf of the entire Milford Police Association, both past and present members, we are deeply saddened by the parole board’s decision to cast away the outcome of the judicial process and give release to a convicted cop killer.  Sergeant. Conley was a cop but moreover, he was a father and husband.  The Milford Police Association is outraged by yesterday’s decision, our thoughts and prayers are with the Conley family as they process this unfathomable decision.”

At the time word of the decision reach our agency, it is unclear when Patrick O’Shea will be processed for release

“The headlines read ‘One of Milford’s best’.  This was certainly true for Sergeant Walter Conley.  Yesterday we were notified that parole was granted to his murderer under the guise of compassionate release. As paramedic with over 30 years of experience, respect and dignity for all life regardless of your prior sins is what has directed me and continues to direct me as I progress through life.  Sadly, Sergeant Conley did not die surrounded by his family; he took his final, labored breaths knowing he was dying on the cold surface of a parking lot on Prospect St. in Milford.  I ask the public to say a prayer for Sergeant Conley and his family.  I only hope that nobody in their family will suffer and die alone as Sergeant Conley did.”- Milford Chief of Police Robert Tusino
