CARETAKER ARRESTED FOR INDECENT ASSAULT ON DISABLED ADULT

MILFORD — On Friday, November 28th, at approximately 9:16 PM, the Milford Public Safety Communications Center received a call reporting the past sexual assault of a disabled male.

At 9:21 PM, Milford Police Detectives initiated an investigation into the incident, during which it was alleged that the victim’s caretaker had indecently touched him.

At approximately 10:02 PM, Calton Asanga, 27, of Milford, MA, was interviewed at the Milford Police Department, where he admitted to improperly touching the victim.

“The facts of this case show an abhorrent betrayal by someone who was trusted to provide care. I’m grateful for the quick resolution,” said Chief of Police Robert Tusino.

MILFORD POLICE DEPARTMENT ASSIGNS TWO OFFICERS TO SPECIAL OPERATIONS TEAM

The Milford Police Department congratulates Officer Michael Johnson and Officer Bayley Laughlin on their new assignments to the MPD Special Operations Team.

Officer Johnson has served as a patrol officer with the Milford Police Department for three years. Prior to joining MPD, he spent nearly a decade on active duty in the United States Army, where he completed combat tours during Operation Enduring Freedom and trained multi-national forces overseas. He is a certified SWAT Operator, licensed Emergency Medical Technician, licensed Commercial Drone Operator, FBI Crisis Negotiator Course graduate, Tactical Medical Instructor, Active Shooter Instructor, and CPR/First Aid Instructor.

Officer Laughlin began his law enforcement career in Willimantic, Connecticut, where he served as a police officer and member of the Warrant Task Force. During his service there, he received multiple commendations, including the Life Saving Award and a Departmental Citation.

Since transferring to the Milford Police Department in 2023, Officer Laughlin has completed several advanced trainings, including ballistic shield instruction and close-quarters combat courses.

The Milford Police Special Operations Team is a highly trained unit prepared for immediate crisis deployment. In today’s evolving public-safety landscape, the Special Operations Team was established to respond rapidly to active shooter situations, school lockdowns, and other life-threatening incidents. Working closely with Patrol, K-9, and the Detective Bureau, the unit is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and the most up-to-date tactical training.

Please join us in welcoming Officer Harry Cervantes to the Milford Police Department.  Officer Cervantes comes to the Milford Police Department as a lateral transfer after serving as a police officer for 4 years in the Town of Blackstone.  Officer Cervantes is currently participating in our field training program over the next month before heading out to protect and serve the members of our community.

MAN CHARGED WITH ASSAULT TO MURDER AFTER BASEBALL BAT ATTACK


MILFORD — Friday November 14th at 5:55pm, The Milford Public Safety Communications Center received multiple 911 calls reporting a fight, in which one male was assaulting another with a bat near Main Street Market, located at 315 Main Street in Milford.


On arrival, responding officers located a male party with bleeding wounds to his head and face. Meanwhile, the suspect had fled the area in a Black GMC Sierra pick-up truck.

At 6:00PM, Members of the Hopedale Police Department enacted a motor vehicle stop of the suspect vehicle on Mendon St. in their town. Hopedale indicated the operator of the GMC Sierra had blood on his sweatshirt.

A review of on-scene CCTV footage showed the suspect, later identified as Andre Oliveira Gomes, 24, of Whitinsville, MA attempt to run the victim over with his GMC Sierra pick-up truck, before exiting the vehicle and assaulting him with a baseball bat.

At 6:20PM, Oliveira Gomes was arrested and transported to the Milford Police Department for booking. While the victim was transported to UMASS Memorial Hospital in Worcester to be treated for injuries sustained in the malicious assault.

“Violent acts of this nature have no place in our community,” said Chief of Police Robert Tusino. “Thanks to the swift cooperation between Milford and Hopedale officers, a dangerous individual was apprehended before he could harm anyone else.”

Andre Oliveira Gomes has been charged with the following crimes and is currently being held at Worcester House of Corrections on $100,000 bail:

MILFORD POLICE MAKE ARREST FOR PHONE LARCENY

MILFORD — On Wednesday November 12, 2025, at approximately 8:46AM, while investigating another incident, the Milford Police Detective Bureau were alerted to a phone theft from The Latin Store, located at 18 Main Street in Milford.

During the investigation, Detectives were able to identify Jose Mejia Alba, 44, of Milford as the suspect of the larceny.

At approximately 9:15AM, Milford Police Detectives arrested Mejia Alba at his workplace without further incident.

Mejia Alba was transported to Milford District Court where he was arraigned on the following charges:

MILFORD POLICE ASKING FOR INFORMATION TO LOCATE MISSING JUVENILE

Our agency is seeking the public’s assistance to locate a missing 15 year-old. Kamilla Masciarelli was last seen in the area of Purchase St. and Sabatinelli Rd. at approximately 5PM, wearing a Black hooded sweatshirt and Gray pants.

If you see Kamilla please contact the us immediately at 508-473-1113 or by dialing 911. It is possible Kamilla has made her way to Marlborough.

MILFORD POLICE OFFICER TRANSPORTED TO HOSPITAL FOLLOWING MAIN STREET FIRE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE TUESDAY NOVEMBER 4TH 2025

MILFORD — On Monday November 3, 2025, at 4:38PM, the Milford Public Safety Communications Center received a 911 call reporting smoke in the building at 72 Main Street in Milford.

Arriving at 4:43PM, members of the Milford Fire Department began investigating the smoke condition within the mixed-use premises of the Turtle Tavern and residential apartments. Shortly after arrival at 4:46PM, the Milford Fire Department located fire extending through the outside of the building.

At 4:51PM, as Fire Fighters worked the fire, Sergeant Patrick Dailey of the Milford Police Department was informed of a resident still on the third floor of the smoke-filled building. Taking lifesaving measures, Sgt. Dailey proceeded to third floor apartment with low visibility and poor breathing conditions in attempt to rescue the resident only to find the apartment empty. During an evacuation of the neighboring buildings, the resident was located already outside. Sgt. Dailey was transported to Milford Regional Hospital for smoke inhalation treatment, where he was later released.

“Sergeant Dailey’s selfless actions reflect the dedication and courage of our officers” said Chief of Police Robert Tusino. “I’d like to commend Sgt. Dailey’s bravery and reinforce my gratitude for our partnership with the Milford Fire Department to minimalize further tragedy.”

Fire Fighters from several towns remained on-scene battling the fire until after 11pm.

“My thoughts are with the residents, as well as the owners of the Turtle Tavern.”

A large portion of Main Street and the surrounding area will remain closed today, as crews work to clear the remnants of the building. It is expected the area will reopen at approximately 10:00PM
